Second Nature

Second Nature was born in the depths of chaos amid the worst year of modern times. Trapped, hopeless, locked down. The difficult situation we all found ourselves in led Lina and the Lions to question their purpose, and the purpose of their music.

Now, with Second Nature, they have their answer.

Their debut album is a celebration of transcendent hope, relief and positivity. Lina and the Lions have returned to their ethos and spirit – with their uplifting lyrical flourishes being central to the new project. Second Nature is about returning to their essence in order to grow, with bravery and self-esteem being at the core of the album.

“We wanted every song to have the potential to be someones’ personal anthem for hope, fearlessness and self belief. When we were kids we all had this extraordinary bravery that allowed us to dream.”

The Sheffield band have taken their time in crafting their debut LP. Lina Lane (lead singer) has been writing song as long as she can remember, with the Israeli-born artist being inspired by a wide-range of influences, from Cyndi Lauper to Chvrches. This vividly intense love for music is clear to hear on Second Nature, with each track indulging in the pure joy of indie-pop melodies and the transformative nature of music.

The dark layers which permeate Lina and the Lions’ cinematic sound add an Alt-Rock edge without ever overshadowing the instant accessibility. In a time of aural mediocrity, lead singer, bassist and pianist, Lina Lane, strives to break the mould with her intro-extrovert songwriting. From delicate and raw subject matter; unapologetically powerful art is born.

“If you’ve got a “go button”, I want to push it!”  - Lina Lane

“If anyone has the commercial potential and visceral force to bring in New Wave 2.0, it’s Lina and the Lions, they’ll set your heart alight with the same effervescent flame as the likes of Kate Bush while laying down modernistically moody synth-led melodies. If you appreciate authentic artists with the ability to simultaneously revive and pioneer; get them on your radar.” Amelia Vandergast, A&R Factory

Lina moved to the UK as a young teen.  After living in London, studying music and developing herself on various instruments she formed Lina and the Lions.  Originally, the 2 core members met in a pub in their hometown, Sheffield. Lina and Lee (multi-instrumentalist/producer) started making music almost immediately and the story goes from there. So far, the pair have independently released 8 singles, 5 music videos and 2 full length album, “One Small Step” and "Second Nature”.  In their first year, Lina and the Lions built a following of dedicated fans while still managing to earn features from the likes of BBC Introducing, Only The Northern One, Wolf in a Suit and many more. Live, joined by a drummer, their energetic sound rides the crux of the 80s New Wave while bringing in a brand-new tide of ingenuity to the tune of glassy synths and synthesised bass - all serving as the perfect backdrop for Lina’s unmistakable soaring vocal. Influenced by giants like Blondie, Cyndi Lauper and The Police, Lina and the Lions deliver a cross-generational blend of infectious pop that interweaves the styles of past generations into a revitalised neo-pop explosion. Earning them comparisons to modern synth-pop acts like Chvrches, Pale Waves and The 1975.

Lina and the Lions, armed with their razor sharp pop sensibilities are certainly set to be more "newest wave classic” than soon forgotten 80’s soundtrack that never was.
