Biography

Sheffield's own Retrowave sensation, Lina and the Lions, are set to ignite Comic-Cons with their unique and infectious blend of 80s nostalgia and modern pop vibes. Comprised of core members Lina Lane (lead vocals, bass) and Lee Feltham (guitar), with the addition of a live drummer, the trio has become synonymous with the ultimate live experience, captivating audiences across the UK and beyond.

With their unmistakable "Stranger Things" feel and a sound that seamlessly merges retro aesthetics with contemporary styles, Lina and the Lions have quickly become a staple at major Comic-Con events. From Manchester to Nottingham, Durham to Doncaster, and even crossing international borders to perform at Costa Brava's inaugural Comic-Con, the band has solidified their place as the ultimate soundtrack for fans of cosplay, cinema, and fantasy.

Reflecting on their journey, lead singer Lina Lane shared her gratitude: "We started with the idea of coming along and singing to you… now, we sing FOR you! We are your band!"

Their music transcends generations, resonating with fans of all ages and backgrounds, making them a true sensation in the Comic-Con community.

Their debut album "Second Nature" serves as a celebration of hope, relief, and positivity, embodying the band's ethos of bravery and self-esteem. Lina and the Lions return to their essence with uplifting lyrical flourishes at the core of their new project, aiming to provide anthems for hope, fearlessness, and self-belief.

"We wanted every song to have the potential to be someone's personal anthem. At Comic-Cons, we are all heroes, dreamers and adventurers! Having your very own original soundtrack is a must!”

In just their first year, Lina and the Lions have amassed a dedicated following, earning features from renowned platforms such as BBC Introducing, Only The Northern One, and Wolf in a Suit. Their energetic live performances, infused with elements of 80s New Wave and modern synth-pop, have drawn comparisons to icons like Blondie, Cyndi Lauper, and The Police, while embracing the sonic landscape of contemporary acts such as Chvrches, Pale Waves, and The 1975.

As they gear up to perform at 2024 Comic-Cons, Lina Lane expressed her excitement:

"We are so excited to play at Comic-Cons this year. We feel home! It's a place where people get to be themselves, meet their heroes, and find treasures. We are proud to be the soundtrack of the day."

“It’s like an homage to the Cyndi Lauper, Madonna era but with a really great unique twist on it.” Christian Carlisle, BBC Radio Sheffield

“If anyone has the commercial potential and visceral force to bring in New Wave 2.0, it’s Lina and the Lions, they’ll set your heart alight with the same effervescent flame as the likes of Kate Bush while laying down modernistically moody synth-led melodies. If you appreciate authentic artists with the ability to simultaneously revive and pioneer; get them on your radar.” Amelia Vandergast, A&R Factory

“The band wears their influences on their sleeve, a synth-pop record drawing from the likes of Kate Bush and Gwen Stefani’s No Doubt to create a distinctly modern take on the classic 80s sound. Lina’s unique voice drives the track with a ringing hook that will be swirling around your head for hours, match this with the traditional pop instrumentation and you have a pop anthem that Cyndi Lauper would be proud of.”  Tucker, RGM Magazine

“The band Lina and The Lions is a modern logical continuation of The New Romantic movement that was founded in England in the late 70s.”  Indie Dock Music Blog

“Theirs is a sound that interweaves the styles of past generations into a revitalised neo-pop explosion.” Megan FitzGeralnd, Only the Northern One

“Could be described as 'Sheffield Synth' - the vocal is unique - a hint of Cyndi Lauper, a touch of Gwen Stefani but altogether distinctly Lina.” Our Sound Music

“80’s delight blending mid-80’s synthwave (reminiscent of NewRetroWave music) and early 80’s bands like Altered Images with Lina’s high-pitched, candy sweet vocals. “ Christopher Smith, Let’s talk about Pop Music
